the consequences would be quote, a disaster, he made it sound like only an anarcihist would pose raising the debt keeling. >> what i will not do is have that negotiation with a gun at the head of the american people. the threat unless we get our way, unless you gut medicare or medicaid or if otherwise slash things that the american people don't believe should be slashed, that we're going to threaten to wreck the entire economy. look. i -- i don't think anyone would consider my position unreasonable here, democrats don't like voting for the debt ceiling when there is a republican president. but you never saw a situation in which democrats suggested somehow that we would go head and default if we didn't get

100% of our way that. is not how it's supposed to work. >> sean: i can't help but you remind that had obama in 2006 was a junior senator from illinois who opposed raising debt ceiling that. is right. barack obama scolding republicans for linking p spending cuts to raising debt ceiling himself voted against raising the debt ceiling. here is what the anointed one said in 2006, said leadership means the buck stops here, washington is shifting burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and our grandchildren. er america has a debt, and a failure of leadership. americans deserve better, i, therefore, intend to oppose the efforts to increase american's debt limit so he is doing what he said shouldn't be done. but in doing so is demonstrating his morale superiority. the second thing we saw today is on full display he said

republicans were sus spishus about social security and government support for the elderly and spending money on medical research, then, about programs aimed at making sure kids in poverty are getting enough to eat. now this, snot only deeply dishonest it's a gross distorgs. a lecture coming from a man responsible for a massive increase in poverty during his presidency. a third thing we saw is how deeply misunderstood his facts are. saying his plan would claim $4 trillion next decade but that claim is untrue. the figure comes from one, one trillion in cuts reach aid year ago in budget negotiations, meaning no savings they're in the bank. two, it counts $800 billion in savings and debt payments from spending cuts. that is a dubis claim, three, obama counting a nearly $1 rilin

savings from more money nobody expected to be spent anyway. now that the war with iraq is over and afghanistan war is winding down. so obama's premise that we need to balanced approach to cutting the deficit and huge fiction which in a plan will cut $4 trilin in the next decade, it will do no such thing. he is basing his argument on a falsehood which is what he's done is lie, distort. and what this showed us is that obama in the second term is going to be worse than obama in the first term. what we saw in one hour was the worst of our president on display. and republicans, they need to understand all of this dealing with obama. a man reckless, ruthless, and any president they will ever encounter. my next guess says he has a plan that will bolster the republicans plan. ohio senator is with us, how are you? >> great.

the debt limit discussion. so this is an appropriate time to raise the issue. look, he said people voted for him because they wanted to increase the debt limit. i don't think so. that is not what polling shows. it shows people want to get spending under control. >> sean: for a brief hour the obama media which did not go do a good job from my estimation woke up and challenged him. and looked angry on hypocrisy. how would you deal with the president that is very good at politics, demonizing and pushing republicans into a corner? what is the best strategy? >> well, i agree with you it's interesting. you had reporters saying wait a minute. you said just the opposite but also said the point just made a second ago which is why are you saying it's been straight and it's not relevant to the debt limit? it's been tied to it time and time again that. is what we we have to do. i know that you know we'll -- the election, you and know, he's our president.

but it's also true that the exit poll on that very day, when asked people, a majority said government is too big. when asked now, including last week, three quarters of americans say spend sgt problem not revenue. people are receptive. we've just got to get it out interest there. $130,000 per family is the debt. and talking about republicans want to gut medicare and social security? we want to save it for the future. he said he want to slash spending? no. it's about how much increase you have over next 10, 20 years. i think when we take this to the american people we have a great opportunity. >> sean: you're going to have to vote on a couple nominees. any problems for any of them? >> we have owe-to-ask tough question was regard to chuck
